Thinking about Schools means many different aspects, and today, I don’t know which the most difficult and busiest time in a school year is. It’s maybe the beginning of the year, because you need to prepare, organize, new teachers, new processes , policies, results from last year , students, parents, everything is new. But it is almost the same at the end: comparing results, balances, students that are leaving, materials, parents, promotions, books, etc.
This was the busiest period for me in my 17 years at the CIB, but today I will share with all of you what we have:

• 431 students are registered in Elementary and Secondary section today.
• 46 full time teachers, 2 part time teachers.
• Drama and art classes in both sections, with specialists.
• Ethics and religion from Kinder 5 to 9th grade.
• 11o and 12o, Social service, and CAS.
• 56 new students from Colombia, Ecuador, Perú, United States.
• Excellent results at the ICFES Exams (Categoría muy superior), from last year: 2006- 2007.
• 77.7 % of our students from 12o grade ( 2006- 2007 ), got the diploma from the IBO organization.
• Strategies have been implemented at the Admissions office in order to tell everybody about our school.
• Remedial work from last year is updated.
• Committees are already working around the school: Hands on Heritage, PRAE, Emergency, Community relations. Values, Art, CIB News, Year Book. Every teacher at school belongs to a committee, and you will see the results soon.
• 28 seniors who are committed with their work, and the Diploma program.
• Web Page with information for the whole CIB community.
• An excellent administrative team who work and do their best.
• PYP program following the IBO recommendations.
• The best group of parents who trust and believe in our project.

I am very happy and optimistic about this school year. I know, our projects will benefit our students, and they ´ll become IB LEARNERS, PEOPLE WHO CARE ABOUT THE PLANET, GOOD CITIZENS, GOOD HUMAN BEINGS.
